Winter in Lærdal & the Sognefjord-region

Admittedly, neither Lærdal nor the Sognefjord region have many cultural attractions open in winter, but in return you experience the beautiful nature of the Sognefjord at perhaps its very best, you experience the silence of nature that you do not experience in many places in the world. We will help you to find the very best places where you can find peace of mind- fresh nature gives good health!

Experience nature on ski tours or by walking on the many own hiking trails for winter use, especially e.g. the great historical roads in Lærdal. Not far away you will find three of the most beautiful ski arenas is Norway, such as Hemsedal, Fillefjell and Myrkdalen - all within a reasonable distance of 35 min. to 1 hour and 20 min. driving from the holiday park. You can travel with the attractions Flåm railway and fjord cruise all year around.

Winter hiking by the Sognefjord

In Lærdal and the Sognefjord-Region, you will find an eldorado of hiking trails of all levels of difficulty with both flat paths, moderate ascents and steep ascents not only in summer but also in winter. The snow-poor valley means that our beautiful hiking trails can be used all year round! Several hiking trails start in the vicinity of the holiday park.

Ice skating

Lærdal has a long tradition of ice skating and has its own 400- metre long track and a track for children, which is open from mid- November to mid- March depending on the weather.

Cross-country skiing and alpine skiing

Lærdal is known for being poor in rainfall, therefore very little snow - but don't be afraid of not having a good skiing experience! In the region around Lærdal, you will find plenty of skiing activities for both cross-country skiing, free-riding and alpine skiing, e.g. one of Northern Europe's best-known and most beautiful ski resorts Skistar Hemsedal. Also, don't forget the opportunities for roller skiing and summer skiing training on good asphalted side roads with little traffic from the main road E-16.

Ice climbing

If you have climbing experiences, you can try ice climbing in one of the best ice climbing areas in Europe. Lærdal is known in the climbing community as one of the best climbing due to the dry climate and winters with little sun, which means that the ice in the waterfalls can grow regardless of large temperature differences
