WINTER IN LÆRDAL AND THE SOGNEFJORD REGION

Vintervandring i LærdalLærdal Ferie- og Fritidspark is an ideal location for winter activity.

Most of the cultural attractions are not open during the winter, but if you are looking to experience the nature in the Sognefjord area, you have come to the right place.
Here you can explore the attractions, by skiing or walking. There is also short distances to ski resorts like Hemsedal, Fillefjell and Myrkdalen.

 

isklatring LærdalIf you have experience with climbing, you can test yourself in one of the worlds best areas for ice climbing. With its dry climate and sunless winters, Lærdal provides a stable environment for the ice to grow in the many waterfalls.

WINTER HIKING

3Lærdal and the surrounding area offers scenic hiking trips with varied difficulty levels, both flat, medium and steep. Many of them you can reach with a walk from the holiday park. 

 

Most of the hiking trails is usable during the winter, due to the dry climate. Normally you can reach a height of 700-800 metres before you reach the snow. In some areas, it would be smart to bring snowshoes.

ICE CLIMBING

Lærdal is known as one of the best destinations for ice climbing in the world. The reason is the dry climate and the cold periods in January and February without precipitation. This provides a stable environment for the ice to grow on many of the waterfalls in Lærdal.

SKIING

Trugegang LærdalsfjellaLærdal is known for its dry climate, and therefore we don't have much snow during the winter. There is still a large selection of areas for skiing activities in nearby. Lærdal is also, with its flat and almost traffic-free roads, excellent for roller skiing and training on bare ground.

A scenic area for cross country skiing, free riding and walking with snowshoes, which lies just 20 minutes from the holiday park by car. The area is usable from media February. Before the road is cleared up to Varahaug bridge, you can also drive as far as you can reach, park the car by the road, and strap the skis on there.  

 

Fillefjell / Maristova (Gramstølen) –  preparert tracks for cross-country skiing.
Try the new prepared track from Gramstølen in the west, to the skiresort in the east on Fillefjell.

ICE SKATING

4Lærdal has strong traditions in speed skating. There are no regular events, due to the weather variations, but when the weather allows it, the ice skating group in Lærdal prepares the track. The speedskating venue consists of a 400m track, and an inner track for children.
